Every hand in no limit poker is both a chance to win it all or go bust. Acting by extremes can be a dual edged sword, with swings that take you high and drag you low. Players with an extreme range of opening cards and a looser drawing style will find their stacks wildly variable in definition, with bigger wins and bigger losses than those players that stick to the more steady, solid approach.
Leaving yourself options from hand to hand to avoid such swings is particularly important to online poker players without money to burn. Though all players should be looking to improve their results, there is a wide gap between the discerning player and the trackstar. Many short term successes are happy to push hard and win hard, and sometimes find themselves broke, while the players in it for the longer haul give themselves options from hand to hand.
